SIDELINEMATH PRIVACY POLICY

Effective Date: April 21, 2026 Last Updated: April 21, 2026

1. About This Policy

SidelineMath ("we," "us," or "our") operates the SidelineMath website and online game service (the "Service"), headquartered in North Carolina. We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users, and especially children under the age of 13.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. It applies to all users of SidelineMath, including guests and registered account holders.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@sidelinemath.com.

2. Our Two Account Types

SidelineMath offers two ways to use the Service:

Free Agent (Guest Play): No registration required. Users may play math games without creating an account. We do not collect any personal information from guest users.

All-Star Account (Registered): Users may register to earn prizes, track progress, and appear on the leaderboard. Registration for users under 13 follows a parent-first process — the child selects a system-generated username, then a parent or guardian completes account setup using a one-time activation code sent to their email. No account is created and no data is collected until the parent completes this process.

3. Children's Privacy — COPPA Compliance

SidelineMath is directed at children and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and its 2025 amendments, enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

We do not collect any personal information from any child under 13 without first completing a parent-assisted account setup process.

When a user indicates they are under 13 during registration, we immediately route them to a parent-assisted flow. The child selects a system-generated username only. We then collect the parent's email address for the sole purpose of sending a one-time activation code. The parent must retrieve and enter this code to proceed. No account is created and no information about the child is stored until the parent completes account setup and creates the child's password.

If the activation code is not used within 7 days, the pending record and parent's email address are permanently deleted from our records and no account is created.

4. Information We Collect

For All-Star Account holders under 13, we collect:

  • A system-generated username — automatically created from a curated list of positive, sports-themed words. The child selects from two generated options during registration. The parent may also cycle through options during account setup. This username is displayed publicly on the leaderboard alongside the child's high score. Children are never asked to enter a username manually.

  • Child's age — provided optionally by the parent during account setup. Used internally to develop age-appropriate content; never displayed publicly or shared with any third party.

  • Child's password — created by the parent or guardian during account setup, not by the child.

  • Parent's email address — used to deliver the one-time activation code, manage parental consent, send important account notices, and deliver weekly progress reports.

For All-Star Account holders 13 and older, we collect:

  • Username and password

  • Age

  • Email address

For prize fulfillment (physical prizes only):

When a registered user earns a physical prize, we collect the mailing address necessary to fulfill that prize. This information is used solely for shipping purposes and is deleted from our records once the prize has been delivered. We do not retain mailing addresses after fulfillment is complete.

Physical prize fulfillment for users under 13 requires a parent or guardian to provide the mailing address directly. We will contact the parent at the email address on file to collect this information — we will never ask a child under 13 for their home address.

We do not collect:

  • Full legal names

  • Phone numbers

  • Photos or videos

  • Location or GPS data

  • Biometric identifiers

  • Social Security numbers or government IDs

  • Payment or financial information

  • Any information through in-game chat (there is no chat feature)

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:

  • To create and manage All-Star Accounts

  • To display usernames and high scores on the public leaderboard

  • To send parents weekly progress reports summarizing their child's activity, which may include family-friendly sponsor content

  • To send important account-related notices

  • To develop age-appropriate game content based on aggregate, non-identifying age data

  • To fulfill prizes earned through gameplay

  • To maintain the security and functionality of the Service

We do not use any information collected from children for advertising, marketing, or any purpose beyond those listed above.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your information or your child's information. Ever.

We do not share personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing partners.

We do not share children's personal information with any third party except in the following limited circumstances:

• Prize fulfillment partners: If a physical prize requires shipping by a third-party fulfillment service, we share only the mailing address and first name necessary to complete delivery. These partners are contractually prohibited from using this information for any other purpose.

• Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the safety of our users.

We do not currently use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services on SidelineMath.

7. The Public Leaderboard

The SidelineMath leaderboard displays usernames and high scores publicly. This is disclosed to parents at the time of consent and is integral to the operation of the Service.

All usernames on SidelineMath are system-generated from a pre-approved word list. Children cannot create free-text usernames, which eliminates the risk of real names, locations, or other identifying information appearing on the leaderboard.

Team Code holders appear on both the public leaderboard and a private group leaderboard visible only to other members of that group. The username displayed is the same on both. Group codes are distributed by SidelineMath administrators and do not affect what data is collected or how it is used.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to operate the account and fulfill the purposes described in this policy.

Specifically:

• Account data is retained for as long as the account is active.

• Mailing addresses for physical prize fulfillment are deleted once delivery is confirmed.

• Unapproved consent requests and associated parent email addresses are deleted within 7 days if consent is not received.

• Upon account deletion, all associated personal information is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Pending registration records — consisting of a system-generated username, hashed password, and parent email — are deleted within 7 days if the parent does not complete account setup using the activation code.

9. Parental Rights

Parents and legal guardians of children under 13 have the following rights at any time:

• Review the personal information we have collected about their child

• Correct any inaccurate information

• Delete their child's account and all associated personal information

• Withdraw consent, which will result in the immediate closure of the account

• Opt out of weekly progress report emails without closing the account

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@sidelinemath.com. We will respond within 10 business days. We may ask you to verify your identity as the account's parent or guardian before fulfilling any request.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. These measures include secure data transmission, access controls, and regular review of our data practices.

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you have reason to believe that your or your child's information has been compromised, please contact us immediately at privacy@sidelinemath.com.

11. Users Outside the United States

SidelineMath is operated from North Carolina and is intended for users in the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will notify parents of registered users under 13 by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The updated policy will always be posted on this page with a revised effective date.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
